The first scale I ever used for coffee was a food scale from walmart. It weighed my coffee, one gram at a time. No decimals, no timer, no sleek design. The tare button didn't work so I had to turn it off and on to reset it. It was light gray and built from the cheapest plastic produced by mankind.

To say I outgrew it wouldn't entirely be accurate, as it was never appropriate for even beginners. But let's go with that anyways, I outgrew it.

My second scale was quite an improvement, landing on the classic Hario V60 Drip Scale. It had a built in timer and guess what? The tare button worked! Apart from needing the upgrade, I decided on that scale simply because James Hoffman referenced it in his book The World Atlas of Coffee (click here to shop on amazon). It was perfect for me in those days of using the Bodum pourover kit from Target.

But again I quickly outgrew it.

I won't get into all the reasons for why I needed an upgrade. Check out my Hario Review to read about that experience. Just know that it was time for me to level up.

And level up I did!

First Impressions

Right out of the box the TIMEMORE 2.0 somehow feels light and heavy at the same time. You can easily tell that it was crafted with quality and care. The color is dark dark gray but not completely black (although it's hard to tell, look at the photo in the header for an up-close perspective).

One thing about the design that immediately grabbed me is that there isn't a scale area. Rather, the whole thing is a scale. Coming from the Hario where the scale area and the buttons were in separated sections, this feels like the future!

I also noticed right away that there isn't a screen. The LED lights that show the weight and timer, etc. are built into the bottom of the scale so you can just see them on the plastic after pressing the on button. I am not sure how it works but MAN is it cool!

The box also comes with a charger of course and a silicone insulation waterproof pad that allows one to set a caraf on during pourover etc. It has the TIMEMORE logo on it and the circular grooves which make the whole design look sleek and innovative.

Features
Sound

There’s one feature I didn’t realize I needed until I experienced it: a simple beep.

A beep? Yes—seriously.

It might sound trivial, but it makes a bigger difference than you’d expect. One of my previous scales had a touch interface with no audible feedback at all. If I tapped the timer, I’d have to wait and watch the screen to see if it actually registered. Sometimes it didn’t, and I’d find myself tapping it three or four times—pausing in between each attempt just to be sure.

I distinctly remember thinking how helpful it would be to have some kind of confirmation. Anything. Just a quick sound to let me know the input went through.

The TIMEMORE delivers with this sound. It immediately confirms that the function has been activated, eliminating any guesswork. It’s a small detail, but one that noticeably improves the overall experience.

Just as a hypothetical, you CAN turn off the sound if you find it annoying, but who would wanna do that?!

Pour Rate

This was a standout feature for me—and honestly, something I had never experienced before. It’s genuinely impressive.

The TIMEMORE 2.0 includes a built-in pour rate display right above the weight readout, showing how many grams of water per second you’re pouring in real time. It’s a simple addition, but incredibly useful.

If you’re doing a pour-over (which is what most people use a scale like this for), you place your setup on the scale and begin pouring water while it measures the total weight. That alone is helpful, you can track exactly how much water you’ve added and dial in your final yield. This matters because it directly affects strength, helping you adjust if a brew turns out too strong or too weak.

But the real advantage here is the pour rate itself. Within the coffee community, it’s generally accepted that an ideal pour rate falls somewhere between 6–10 grams per second. Being able to monitor that live gives you much more control over your technique, which can have a noticeable impact on the final cup.

Precise Measuring

Not all scales are as accurate as they claim. As a biotechnologist by day you can trust me on that. And whether in the lab or on the coffee bar scales can vary in their accuracy in a very annoying way. Luckily, the TIMEMORE 2.0 seems to be remarkably consistent. And when your scale is consistent so is your final cup.

But it's more than just consistent, it's precise, with the capability to measure in increments of 0.1g. I have worked with scales that only measure in 0.5g and it's more frustrating then you'd ever think it would be. For example, if you are wanting to weigh 18.2g for espresso and you're using a scale measuring in units of 0.5g it will jump from 18 to 18.5 even if you do successfully have 18.2g on your scale. Trust me, it's annoying. I am grateful that I don't have to deal with that while using the TIMEMORE 2.0.

There is a limit in it's weight capacity which is 2kg (2000g) but as long as you are using this for coffee you would never need to get anywhere close to that.

Timer

Just about all coffee scales have built in timers so this isn't anything special but still a nice feature that's a necessity. I personally have never had the need to use up the full 59 minute and 59 second time limit but it's nice to know the option is there.

Battery Life

The TIMEMORE 2.0 has a battery life of 10 hours and when you are only using it for 5-10 minutes at a time those 10 hours can easily turn into days of battery life.

Silicone Pad

The silicone pad is a thoughtful addition that adds both protection and stability. It’s heat-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about placing a hot carafe directly on the scale, and it helps prevent everyday wear and tear.

It also does a great job of keeping your carafe from sliding around during a brew, which is especially helpful when you’re pouring. The grooved design adds extra grip and keeps everything more secure.

That said, I do have one issue with those grooves, but I’ll address that in the next section.

Negatives

Only one negative comes to mind when thinking about this scale. Well, not so much the scale but rather the silicone pad. It's a great concept that helps to keep a carafe or any other cup of choice from sliding off but I can't help but to get annoyed at the fact that coffee grounds inevitably get stuck in the groves and requires a constant rinse. It seems like it's always dirty regardless of how many times I run it under the faucet. It get's old.

Conclusion and Overall Score

Looking back at where I started—with a basic, barely functional food scale—to where I am now, the TIMEMORE Classic Scale 2.0 feels like a complete evolution. It’s not just an upgrade; it’s a refinement of the entire brewing experience.

From the thoughtful design and hidden display to features like the audible feedback and real-time pour rate, this scale goes beyond the basics and adds tools that actually improve your workflow. It’s precise, consistent, and built with a level of quality that’s easy to appreciate the moment you start using it.

No product is perfect, and the silicone pad does have its minor frustrations. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s a small trade-off for what is otherwise an exceptionally well-designed piece of equipment.

If you’re serious about stepping up your coffee game and want more control, consistency, and ease in your brewing process, this is a scale that delivers. Click here to buy this on amazon!
